47. CL-1. $100
Chauncey & Noble Jerome round-sided shelf clock, 1834-1839. This is an early weight-driven brass movement clock
from the brothers who invented and marketed inexpensive brass movements. It stands 22 inches tall with clean, polished
mahogany veneer. The dial glass is period but not original to the case and the dial surround has been rebacked. The
mirror is period but also not original to the case. The round dial has been repainted and has yellowed; the hands completely
wrong. The 30-hour brass movement is unsigned; it is running and striking, driven by two standard 30-hour weights (they should
be rectangular weights). The wire for the gong is missing, so it strikes very quietly. The interior of the case retains
the original blue painted paper and a copied card label. AAC has sold three of this model for an average of $200. $100–$250.
