Wadsworths, Lounsbury, & Turners pillar & scroll, 1827-1829.  A second example from this group of five in Litchfield, CT.  Litchfield is just southwest of Torrington, northwest of Thomaston, and within a stone’s throw of the hub of the early wooden movement clock makers surrounding Bristol CT.  The 31-inch case has good mahogany veneer all around and a clean, polished finish.  The scroll-top has had several regluings of the scroll tips, and I think the feet are replacements.  The skirt looks original.  Working latch and key, and the brass urn finials are on brass posts.  Both glasses are old but probably replacements, with a very colorful tablet.  The wooden dial is clean with glorious gilded and colored spandrels; the hands are proper and period.  The 30-hour wooden time-and-strike movement is running and striking without issue, driven by two period weights and an old pendulum bob. There is a good label inside.  This is perhaps the prettiest P&S in the sale.  $250–$400.
