Welch, Spring & Co. “Wagner Mantel B.W.”, ca. 1878. More common as a wall clock, the shelf version of this calendar clock is 26 inches tall with a clean, polished finish and light patina. The dial glasses are likely original, the painted dials as well, with some strengthening to the numbering on the time dial. The hands on the time dial are replacements.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed but the die-stamp is obscured by the calendar wheel; it is running and striking on a wire gong.  There is a B.B. Lewis label on the calendar mechanism cover; the calendar is advancing as expected.  No label.  A very nice example of a hard-to-find shelf calendar; Schmitt Horan sold one in 2021 for $450.  $325–$450.
