82.              $900

Forestville Manufacturing Co. ripple-front, four-post, sharp gothic (onion top), 1842-1849.  A 20-inch case with rosewood veneer and ripple molding on the edges and door frame, and an old/original finish and patina.  There are two posts on each side and the finials retain their tips. The dial glass is original, with the original putty; the frosted, cut-glass tablet is likely original as well. The metal dial holds very old paint with some discoloration; the JC Brown signature is still strong at the top of the dial.  The hands are period.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed “Forestville M.F.G. Co., Bristol, CT, U.S.A.” and is running and striking on a wire gong; the alarm is not hooked up.  There is a good label on the back wall.  AAC sold one in 2023 for $1350; this clock is about as close to perfect as you can get.  $900-$1400.
