63.              $150

C. & L.C. Ives “Patent Brass Eight Day Clock”, 1830-1836.  A 37.5-inch case with a clean finish.  There is some damage to the top of the carved crest, and the middle carved columns are refinished.  This is the standard style clock these guys made, with the fixed center panel glass (it slides out to the left).  The dial glass is original with several cracks in the lower left; the middle glass is modern with a nicely painted tablet, and the lower glass an old replacement with old clear glass.  The wooden dial board is a bit beat up and dark around the edges, with wear to the extensive gilding; the hands are more appropriate to a wooden works clock.  The early strap-brass movement is unsigned; it will run for a short while and the strike is working.  There are two proper old weights and a period pendulum bob, and a good label.  AAC has sold six of these over the past several years with an average price of $323.  $150–$300.
