Boardman & Wells wooden works OG, ca. 1832.  Chauncey Boardman partnered with Jos. A Wells in 1832 to form a large and successful clockmaking operation and made wooden works movements until 1837.  This clock was likely made shortly after Boardman & Wells got together, as the bottom of the Fenn glass denotes “Boardman & Wells” but the label lists only Boardman as the manufacturer.  The veneer on the 26-inch case is looks to be mahogany but it is behind a dark and crinkly finish; there are some very old repairs along the top border.  Both glasses are original with the original putty, and a very well-preserved tablet.  The wooden dial is clean but yellowed, the hands are period-appropriate.  The 30-hour time-and-strike wooden movement is running and striking, with two period weights.  The label is complete but badly water-stained, as usual.  The signed tablet makes this one special.  $100-$200.
