246.               $2500

Carl Werner year-long runner wall clock,ca. 1895.  Carl Warner worked out of Villingen, Germany and is perhaps best known for his year-long runner wall clocks, as found here.   The 43-inch walnut case has a clean finish, original crest, and four old glasses; there is carved ornamentation over the lower glass.  The brass dial is tarnished, the hands proper.  The heavy, triple-plate, fusee movement runs for one year on a winding and there are cards inside where a previous owner documented winding the clock each year from 1961 to 1979. This clock was originally retailed in Sao Paulo Brazil and bears a stamp from that retailer on the back.  It is still running today.  The only sale I can find of a Werner year-runner was a Schmidt’s Antiques in 2022 for $2900.  $2500–$3000.
