The Electro-Clock Co. box clock, 1909-1912.  A small, short-lived company out of Baltimore, MD with their own dry cell-powered clock movements.  There are precious few examples on LiveAuctioneers and a brief discussion on the NAWCC Forum.  The book “150 Years of Electric Horology” has a discussion of this manufacturer.  The solid oak case is 18.5 inches square and 5 inches deep with a clean finish and old glass over a 12-inch painted and signed metal dial.  The movement is unique to this company and works by using battery power to lift a weighted arm on the right, allowing it to fall over the course of 20 minutes to drive a standard time train, regulated by a heavy pendulum.  When it reaches the bottom of its fall it triggers a “rewind”.  If you “cock” the arm by hand the clock will run; I did not test it with a battery, but it runs on a small readily available 3V DC battery.  Don’t ask me how to wire it up because I am not an electrician.  No label.  $100–$250.
