Poole Manufacturing Co., Inc. “The Executive Model 5”, ca. 1928.  With the glass dome the clock is 12 inches tall; it runs on three D-cell batteries and is running. The base is unbreakable “Morsite”, which appears to be a hard plastic.  I’m not clear on how this clock operates, it has a pendulum and seems to close a circuit every 5 seconds that allows a roller to give a slight impulse to the pendulum.  There is a bit of clicking noise associated with it, and I’m not clear what counts the 5 seconds.  Anyway, it is running and is said to be a very accurate timekeeper.  Unfortunately, electric clocks put battery-operated clocks out of business until quartz movements came along.  This clock will ship without batteries.  These clocks are not uncommon; you can find more information on Poole in Ly, American Clocks, Vol. 2, page 170.  $100–$175.
