201. $450
Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Umbria”, ca. 1913. A 41-inch
oak case with an old, clean, and slightly crinkly finish. Both glasses are period/original, the metal dial repainted and labeled
“Thirty Day”; my consignor tells me it runs longer than that. The springs in the 86W movement are as big as baseballs. This movement was electrified in some way, as there are filled holes on the left side that presumably allowed entry of some sort of
winding or alarm system. The movement is signed, the pendulum proper, and the winding key opens the two doors; it is running
strongly. The club hands are as found on other models; AAC has sold three of this model in different configurations (15-day
and 8-day time-and-strike); this is the first 30-day I have seen. All sold for $500. A stately clock, don’t you think? $450–$650.
