187. $2000
Elmer Stennes girandole, 1972. A
46-inch mahogany case with gilded carvings at the bottom and a gilded brass eagle at the top. The gilding is in excellent
condition, bright and clean, with no significant chipping. Note, however, that one gold ball on the lower door has been
replaced, not quite a perfect match. The glasses are very nice and depict Aurora at the bottom. The dial glass is
domed, the painted dial clean, the hands correct. The 8-day, time-only movement is marked Kilbourne & Proctor, Inc.; it is
running, driven by an unmarked lead weight. The case is numbered ‘5’ including on the lower door and throat; the date ‘72’
is stamped into the case at the lower right. Stennes girandoles are currently selling for around $2500. $2000–$3000.
