186.           $100

Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Regulator No. 1”, ca. 1874.  This is an early version of this model with a round movement left-over from Silas B. Terry’s operation before being sold to ST.  The 34-inch case is veneered in walnut with considerable losses on the bezel.  I believe the contoured base is a replacement. Both glasses are old; the tablet has been repainted with a pattern I have not seen before.  The dial was repainted by The Dial House, the hands are period and found on other examples; note the seconds bit, which is a replacement.  The 8-day, time-only movement is unsigned; it will run but is out of plumb.  The pendulum hanger and stick are replacements; the crutch from the movement is a crude replacement.  The cast iron weight is correct, the wooden weight shield has been replaced and there is no label. This guy will need some help.  $100–$300.
