182. $300
Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Regulator No. 2”, ca.
1920. A mahogany case with some issues; it has not been cleaned or polished in a long time and there is considerable buildup
of gunk, as well as many scrapes on the high edges. The veneer is peeling off in places, including the base. Note also
that the wooden bezel is splitting at the quarter seams and will need attention. The dial glass has been replaced, while the
lower glass looks original. The metal dial is badly discolored and worn; it looks like it has mildew on it, but it is painted
metal and probably original (note the signature at the bottom). I’d like to tell you that it will clean up, but it won’t. The hands are ST issue. The Seth Thomas 8-day, time-only movement is signed and running, with a proper pendulum stick and bob
and a newer No. 2 weight. There is a worn white label on the interior bottom of the case. The average AAC sale price for
mahogany No. 2’s is $561 (seven sales). $300–$600.
