Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Regulator No. 2”,ca. 1863. This unusual model is shown in Ly, Seth Thomas Clocks & Movements, Vol. 1 on page 274. It uses a weight
behind a baffle, as does the No. 1 model, and lacks a seconds hand, usually found on both models. The unusual tablet looks to
be original, with some touch-up; the atypical hands are also shown in the catalog illustration. Here’s what’s not good: The 34-inch case does not appear to be veneered (although it probably was at one time); the dial is paper and there is no zinc dial
pan. Just yellowed paper. That can be fixed. The 8-day, time-only movement is not signed (typical) and has had some
solder repairs to the crutch and pendulum hanger; it is running like a champ. The pendulum stick and bob are ST issue, the cast
iron weight is proper/original, and there is a good Plymouth Hollow label on the wooden weight shield. The weight pulley has
been repaired. A rare model. $350–$600.
