Waterbury Clock Co. “Calendar No. 44”, ca. 1891. A 24-inch double-dial shelf calendar in refinished walnut.  Both glasses are old, the painted time dial is unsigned but appears to be Waterbury in good condition, although it may be a replacement, given the number of mounting holes in the case.  The hands are proper and period; the calendar dial is replaced paper with the Waterbury name, patent date, and logo.  The calendar hand is likely original.  The 8-day time-and-strike brass movement is signed, running and striking on a cathedral gong.  The pendulum bob is unusual but may be Waterbury issue.  The calendar date hand advances but the weekday roller does not quite get around, and an adjustment will be needed.  The roller papers appear to be replaced.  There is no label.  AAC has sold four of this model over the past four years for an average of $235.  $175–$250.
