Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. “No. 10 New Farmer”,
1913. A 26-inch walnut case with what must be the original finish, now thick and alligatored. Both glasses are likely original,
as are the paper dials, strongly toned with some wear in places from excessive cleaning. The three hands are likely original
as well. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is unmarked, but the mounting tabs in the back were used with Gilbert-made movements
introduced in the 1890’s. I cannot get it to run for more than a minute, but it will strike on the cathedral gong on the hours;
the calendar weekday roller is advancing without problem, the calendar hand is a spotty. The pendulum bob is brass on the hanger
but should be nickel-plated. The production number (10) and date of manufacture (9-13) are penciled in on a lower board. AAC has sold four of this model in the past few years for an average of $321. $225-$350.
