Forestville Clock Co. 30-hour scroll-front with MOP, ca. 1850. My understanding is that these were made by Elisha Brewster in the 1850’s, but this one is marketed by FMC.  The 17-inch paper mâché and MOP case is very worn and the gilding and painting is almost faded into obscurity.  Only one piece of mother of pearl remains that I can see.  Both glasses appear to be original, with a frosted cut glass tablet on the bottom.  I believe the contoured metal dial has been repainted and has some bubbling and roughness; the hands are proper but modern replacements.  The 30-hour, time-only movement is unsigned; it is running.  There is an alarm present, but it is not hooked up.  There is an early embossed pendulum bob and a dark green label.  This is a rare label, with only one other known example.  It likely represents JC Brown’s company, which also went by Forestville Clock Manufactory.  $25–$100.
