J.C. Brown “Circus Tent” iron-front, ca. 1850. A second example, this one with the original paint, and also with a broken-off bottom right corner. The color is good, with
much of the gilding remaining on the buildings; note the MOP emblems along the bottom. The glasses are old, the dial has been
repainted, with “JC Brown, Bristol” added. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed but not running; it will strike on
the wire gong. There is no label, and the wooden case has added reinforcements where the screws secure the iron-front. A desirable model and difficult to find. $350–$800.
