147.             $350

J.C. Brown “Circus Tent” iron-front, ca. 1850. A second example, this one with the original paint, and also with a broken-off bottom right corner.  The color is good, with much of the gilding remaining on the buildings; note the MOP emblems along the bottom.  The glasses are old, the dial has been repainted, with “JC Brown, Bristol” added.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed but not running; it will strike on the wire gong.  There is no label, and the wooden case has added reinforcements where the screws secure the iron-front. A desirable model and difficult to find.  $350–$800.
