Seth Thomas Clock Co. Empire cottage clock, ca. 1860. A 15-inch Empire cottage with good mahogany veneer darkened by a modest patina.  I cannot find this model in Ly’s books on Seth Thomas clocks, but I have seen it before and it is very similar to the miniature column clock, lacking the columns.  There are three old glasses and a well-retained shore bird image.  The dial is an aluminum replacement with an old paper dial.  The hands are mismatched.  The 30-hour time-and-strike movement is signed with a Plymouth Hollow location; it is running and striking on a wire gong.  There is an alarm hooked up but not tested; I strikes on an iron bell.  There is a dark Plymouth Hollow label inside, dating the manufacture to before 1865.  $50–$100.
