133. $50
Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Cottage”, ca. 1917. A 14.5-inch
case with rosewood veneer under a clean, old finish; there is some chipping and peeling on the base. Both glasses are period/original,
with a very nice tablet of an eagle on an American shield. The contoured dial has been repainted, the hands are Seth Thomas
issue. The 30-hour time-and-strike movement is marked Seth Thomas, Plymouth Hollow; it is running and striking on a wire gong. The label says Thomaston. I suspect the movement has been replaced, as the style of this case matches one shown in a catalog
illustration from 1917, but not before (Ly, Seth Thomas Clocks & Movements, Vol. 1, page 219). A nice example, given the
tablet. $50–$150.
