131.            $50

Chauncey Jerome 30-hour cottage, ca. 1842.  An 18-inch shelf clock with good mahogany veneer and two old glasses, the tablet likely a repainted or stenciled image, and rebacked.  The contoured metal holds very old paint with touch-ups, and mismatched Maltese hands, the minute hand being a likely replacement. The 30-hr time-and-strike brass movement is unsigned; it is running and striking.  There is a good label inside.  $50–$100.

Mike Bailey took me behind the woodshed on this one, the date for the case is 1852 but the movement is a New Haven Clock Co. movement from the 1870's.  Ouch and thanks, Mike!
