121. $75
Wm. L. Gilbert Clock Co. “Altai”, ca., 1885. A 20.5-inch
walnut case with a clean finish. The door glass looks original, the yellow glossy paper dial is an old replacement the hands
are correct. The 8-day time and half-hour strike movement is signed and runs for a while and then stops; it probably needs cleaning. It strikes on a cathedral gong. There is an alarm hooked up, but untested. The fancy Gilbert pendulum has an adjustable
dial and there is most of the label on the back. An interesting case design, Gilbert’s specialty. $75–$150.
