E.N. Welch Mfg. Co. “Grecian”, ca. 1880. This is Welch’s answer to the highly popular “Grecian” sold by Ingraham (see #115).  It is not found in Ly’s book on Welch clocks but some examples bear a label on the back indicating the maker and model.  The 15-inch case is rosewood, with a grain-painted bezel to match, in an old finish; note the “bowtie” carving below the dial, similar in form to the Ingraham model.  The screws holding the door hinges are loose, and need to be replaced; the dial glass appears to be original.  The unsigned painted dial is relatively clean with some chipping evident; the hands are period and appropriate.  The 30-hour time-and-strike movement is signed, running, and striking on a wire gong.  There are remnants of a black label on the back.  $125–$200.
