112.               $150

Ansonia Brass & Copper Co. shelf calendar clock, 1870-1877.  A precursor company to the Ansonia Clock Co., formed in 1877.  This large clock is also found with a calendar dial.  The 33-inch case is veneered in rosewood in good condition, although I think the veneer on the door bezel is a nicely done replacement.  The drop finials are quite wrong.  Both glasses appear to be original, with good retention of the central image and rebacking around it and the dial.  The painted 12-inch dial holds very old paint and scattered chipping; the hands are proper Ansonia hands.  The unsigned 8-day, time-and-strike brass movement is running without issue, but the strike hammer is not being engaged by the strike chain and will need adjustment; it strikes on a wire gong.  It is driven by two 8-day cast iron weights.  There is a very good label inside.  AB&CC did not last long, but this model was one of their most popular.  It is an impressive clock.  Schmidt’s Antiques sold a similar example last year for $190; that was a good buy.  $150–$300.
