104.           $150

Chauncey Jerome 30-hour fusee steeple, 1845-1850.  A 20-inch sharp gothic with good mahogany veneer and a clean finish.  The cone finials are sharp, both glasses likely original, with a good decalcomania transfer tablet of Westminster Abbey.  The contoured metal dial is in poor condition with considerable losses and discoloration.  The hands are period/original.  The signed 30-hour time-and-strike fusee movement is running and striking on a wire gong; note that the pendulum is suspended from the top of the case, a rare configuration.  The fusees are wooden with the springs behind them, all mounted on a cast iron bracket under the movement.  The justification for the overhead pendulum is that it allowed the use of OG movements, which required a longer pendulum; AAC sold a similar example in 2024 for $250.  A very dark green label inside.   $150–$250.
