Forestville Mfg. Co. cottage, 1842-1849.  A 15.5-inch cottage with great rosewood veneer all around, a repainted metal dial signed J.C. Brown, Bristol, Ct, USA, and proper hands. Both glasses are original, with a well-preserved dial surround on top and an American eagle and shield on the bottom glass with the words "J.C. Brown, Manufacturer." The signed 8-day, time-and-strike movement (with a solid escape wheel) is running and striking on a wire gong.  A good label inside with JC Brown, Bristol Conn at the bottom.  A nice example.  $250–$450.
