Williams, Orton, Prestons & Co. “Eight Day Brass Clock”, 1837-1843.  This group made both wooden works and brass works clocks; here the round brass movement was patented and possibly made by S.B. Terry.  The 33-inch case is veneered in mahogany with a polished finish.  There are full columns on either side of the upper door; the dial glass and middle mirror appear to be original, the lower glass is a replacement with a new tablet.  The wood dial is clean with good gilding and numbering.  The hands are period and appropriate.  The round brass movement is readily visible through the large opening in the dial; it is clean and running, striking on an iron bell. For comparison, see the SB Terry movement in #63.  There is a good label behind plastic.  $225–$400.
