Spencer, Hotchkiss & Co. Eight Day Repeating Brass Clock, 1829-1832.  An impressive empire shelf clock with two full columns on each side, a cornice top, and mahogany veneer. The veneer shows its age with some chips, scrapes, and cracks; note the carved capitals over the columns.  The finish is old. The dial glass is period and may be original, with some replaced putty; the middle glass is original as is the tablet, but with touch-ups and tape to hold paint in place.  The bottom glass is an odd replacement and may have been a mirror or a painted tablet originally. A screw through the top section holds the frame in place.  The dial is not original to the clock and holes have been filled and drilled to accommodate the Salem Bridge repeating brass movement; it is in rough shape, while the hands are likely original. The 8-day, time-and-strike brass movement is unsigned.  It will not run for more than a minute and will need service; it has been rebushed in the past.  There are two 8-lb iron weights and a period pendulum bob; the label has significant losses but is readable.  This clock needs a bit of attention and renovation to bring it up to acceptable standards.  AAC sold a similar example in 2021 for $600.  $250–$500.
