Atkins & Porter, 30-hour shelf clock, 1840-1846. A second example of this style of clock from Atkins & Porter, with a 23-inch reverse OG case.   The mahogany veneer is clean and complete, with some missing pieces at the corners of the base, and the cornice veneer is a bit rough and lifting. Both glasses are old but the putty is newer; the tablet has lost a great deal of the image and the title is incomplete, but it looks like the US Capitol.  The contoured metal dial is darkened but with little chipping; the hands are period.  The 30-hour weight-driven, time-and-strike brass movement is running and striking, including on the half-hour.  There are two period weights and a dark and brittle label behind a plastic sheet.  $50–$150.
