Wm L Gilbert & Co. 30-hour OG, 1851-1866. A 26-inch OG case with great flame mahogany veneer and a clean finish and just a few chips along the bottom.  Both glasses are old, the tablet transfer in excellent condition, depicting the “Public Square, New Haven”; note that the ‘S’ in ‘Square’ is printed backwards.  The contoured metal dial is clean and without significant chipping; the hands are modern and appropriate.  The 30-hour time-and-strike, weight-driven movement is signed, running, and striking on a wire gong; there is a modestly tattered label inside, with two period weights.  $50–$150.
