40.            $100

Hotchkiss & Fields 30-hour OG, 1838-1845.  Mr. Fields was Mr. Hotchkiss’ son-in-law; they worked out of Burlington, CT west of Hartford.  A total of four sales on LiveAuctioneers and the Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide, two OGs and two column & splats.  This OG is 26 inches tall with mahogany veneer and a crusty finish.  Both glasses are old, possibly original, with a very well-preserved tablet of the “Chinese View”, a William Fenn stencil.  The wooden dial is soiled but will clean up with effort; the hands are period and have been painted. The brass, 30-hour, time-and-strike movement is interesting; it is unsigned, and I do not recognize the design.  Maybe you will. It has been cleaned and is running and striking on the wire gong.  There is an embossed pendulum bob, two period weights, and a good label from these uncommon makers.  $100–$200.
