Chauncey Jerome brass dial OG, ca. 1840.  Jerome started producing these clocks with Jeromes, Gilbert, Grant & Co., who were the first producers of clocks with this rolled brass 30-hour movement invented by Noble Jerome.  When this firm ended Jerome worked on his own, building the largest clock manufacturing business in the world by 1845.  The OG case is 26 inches tall in figured mahogany veneer and a clean, polished finish.  I believe both glasses are original, although the putty may have been replaced on the sides and tops of the glasses; the tablet appears to be original and has been touched up, as has the eglomise dial surround.  The brass dial almost certainly has been refinished but does show some age.  The hands are appropriate.  The 30-hour brass movement is polished and running, striking on a wire gong.  It is unsigned but “NO10885” is stamped into the brass under the mainstem.  There are two period weights and a good label on the backwall.  A better-than-average example.  $150–$250.
