Alfred Lowrey 30-hour OG, ca. 1840. Lowrey
is listed as Alfred Lowery in Clockmakers & Watchmakers of America, Spittlers & Bailey, but the label in one other example
spells it Lowrey. I can find only two sales records for this Bristol CT maker. The 26.5-inch OG case has a beautiful finish
over flame mahogany. The dial glass looks original, the lower glass modern with a very nicely painted tablet. The small
dial is wood, with a clean finish over a likely repainted surface; the hands are period. The 30-hour time-and-strike movement
will strike but could not be tested to run as the weight cord is broken. There are two small weights and a good but slightly
dark label inside. A rare maker from Connecticut. $100–$200.
