22.             $100

Seth Thomas 30-hour short drop shelf clock, ca. 1835. A 29.5-inch case with an old, dark finish, half-columns and a deeply carved splat, and two original glasses, standing on carved paw feet in front and turned feet in back.  The columns do not appear to have ever been painted and stenciled; the top side returns are missing, as is the door latch escutcheon.  The tablet glass is cracked and has suffered serious losses to the reverse painting. The putty in both glasses is original; indeed, I think everything is original with this clock.  The wooden dial is faded but reasonably clean with numerous notations on the back, dating as early as 1832.    The hands are period.  The 30-hour time-and-strike wooden movement runs briefly and stops suddenly, it strikes the iron bell without difficulty.  There are two proper weights, a period pendulum bob, and a reasonable label.  Not perfect, but very original.  $100–$250.
