E. & G.W. Bartholomew hollow column with alarm, 1829-1833.  Cousins Eli and George built mostly smaller wooden works clocks, but hollow columns like this are not uncommon and go for a premium price.  This one has undergone fairly extensive renovation and looks good.  The clock stands 37 inches tall with the modern mahogany pineapple finials; the gesso fruit basket crest has been painted, as have the columns, capitals, plinths, and feet.  Other examples have these parts gilded.  The dial glass and lower glass are modern replacements, with an appropriate tablet; the middle mirror is very old, possibly original.  The wooden dial is probably original to this clock, as it has three properly placed winding holes (the third port for the alarm), but shows wear around the mounting screw holes and some wear and soiling.  The hands are likely original; note that the back of the hour hand has a pointer to set the alarm.  The 30-hour time, strike, and alarm movement will strike but will not run; the alarm was not tested.  Thirty-hour TSA wooden movements are uncommon.  The weights run through the columns, but are not correct here, as they should be narrow cylinders.  These weights may be too light, but typical 30-hour weights will not fit in the columns. There is a small alarm weight, an embossed pendulum bob, and a good label inside.  It will take some work to get proper weights and get this running, but if you don’t need it running it will look good as soon as you put it on your shelf.  The most recent sale of this model was way back in 2018, when two sold for $900 and $1200.  $750–$1000.

My consignor feels strongly that the glasses are original, with an original lower tablet.  I cannot confirm that.  You can decide for yourselves, as pictures are posted below.
