4. $100
E. Terry & Sons pillar & scroll, 1823-1831. Perhaps the most prolific producers of pillar & scroll clocks. The 31-inch clock has good mahogany veneer with a glossy
finish. The brass urn finials are on a wood post, a metal post, and a screw. The skirt looks original but one foot has
been replaced; there are some veneer repairs to the divider on the door. Both glasses are old replacements, the tablet a repaint. The wooden dial is clean and colorful, possibly renumbered, but unfortunately is not a proper dial for this model, as it has filled
and redrilled winding holes. A new dial or a repaint could fix that. The wooden 30-hour time-and-strike movement will
not run or strike. There are two period weights, a small brass bob, a winder, and a key for the working door latch. There
is a good label inside. $100–$200.
