Gustav Becker two-weight wall clock, ca. 1870/1900? A 33-inch
walnut case with an old finish and lots of woodworm holes (none active). There are some grape carvings in the door and around
the dial; the glasses are not old. The porcelain dial is in fine shape with good hands, a seconds bit (hand replaced) and signed
“Ducommen. Montpellier”. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is stamped by the maker, with a gold medal award, and a serial
number that dates the movement to around 1870. However, the case looks later, perhaps around 1900, so this may not be the original
movement. I cannot get it to run or strike; there are two battered brass shell weights and a pendulum with a hollow bob. This guy will need some work. $100–$200.
