290.              $150

Large spring-driven Vienna, ca. 1900. I cannot find a maker’s mark on the case or movement here.  The walnut case is 51 inches long with an elaborate crest, carved half-columns, and an unusual metal dial surround.  The upper glass is a replacement, the lower glass and side glasses may be original.  The brass dial has inset enameled numbers and embossed flowers in the center section.  The hands are unusual but match; the metal surround appears to be integral to the dial but shows evidence of being used elsewhere.  Nonetheless, it looks good here and fits the door cutout well.  There is an unusual pendulum bob as well.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement has a serial number but no maker’s mark or name.  It is running, not strongly, and striking on the wire gong on the hour and half-hour.  An interesting example.  $150–$250.
