German Alt Deutsch three-weight grand sonnerie Vienna,ca. 1880. I cannot identify the maker from the logo on the back of the movement in this clock. The 53-inch walnut case
has burl inlays on the flat door columns, crest, and inside back panel, and darker wood trim ornaments, notably with figureheads at
the top of the door side columns. The door glass and both side glasses are period/original. The porcelain dial has a gold
center piece with a four-leaf clover at the center and three leaf vine motifs; there are also four-leaf clovers on the weights and
pendulum bob. There is a noticeable chip out of the porcelain dial at the ‘11’ position. The hands are typical. There are three brass weights with brass pulleys and a large, decorated pendulum bob, with a beat scale at the bottom. The 8-day
grand sonnerie movement is running strongly, striking one rod on the quarter hours and repeating the hours on the second rod with
a nice sound. If you can identify the maker please let me know. $500–$800.
