Gustav Becker three-weight grand sonnerie Vienna,ca. 1887. A 49-inch dark walnut case with a clean finish and lots of small brass ornamentation. The glasses look to be
replacements. The brass dial is clean, without wear or oxidation, and has been lacquered. The ornate hands are as found
on other Becker clocks. The brass 8-day, grand sonnerie movement bears the GB logo, a gold medal award, and a serial number
that puts its date of manufacture between 1885 and 1890. It strikes on two chime rods on the quarter hours and is running and
striking as expected. Note the engraved pendulum bob and weights, on brass pulleys. An attractive clock with a nice sound. $500–$800.
