280. $1000
Biedermeier Vienna calendar, ca. 1840. This
is a rare, early Vienna with a seconds bit and date and month sub dials. I cannot find a matching example online or in my limited
library. It is driven by a single large oval weight with no strike. The 48-inch black lacquer case with three modern glasses;
I think it has been repainted. The porcelain dial is clean with no cracks, but chipping around the winding arbor and loss of
the chapter ring minute marks, and well as markings on the sub dials. The hands look correct, the movement is unsigned and unmarked. It will run briefly, but the minute hand falls freely and will need attention. The large brass pendulum bob is hollow. Note the jewel ornamentation on the hands and pendulum bob. $1000–$3000.
