275.             $100

S. Marti figural shelf clock, ca. 1890.  A 16-inch by 17.5-inch figural of Diane on a marble base.  Diane (Diana) was the huntress in Roman mythology, corresponding to the Greek goddess Artemis.  She is most often depicted with slain animals, as here – see the pheasant and deer in her hand on the left. The statue has been nicely repainted and I see no scrapes or missing pieces.  The yellow marble base is complete with no chips or cracks and sits on four turned metal feet.  A flat beveled glass covers the porcelain dial, which is decorated with painted flowers.  The hands are Ansonia hands.  The S Marti 8-day, time and half-hour strike pendule de Paris movement is running but not striking.  $100–$250.
