Japy Fils portico on stand with glass
dome, ca. 1850. With the glass dome this clock stands 22.25 inches tall; the rectangular glass dome is antique with gilding
at the bottom edge. The ebonized clock has light wood floral inlays and banding, twisted columns and brass capitals and plinths,
matching the ornate gilded bezel and pendulum. The dial is porcelain with some chips at the bottom, the hands are original. It stands on a matching base grooved to hold the glass dome. The clock is running and striking on the hours and half-hours on
a nickel bell. The movement is signed Les Japy Fils with medals listed from 1844-1849. A very nice example; includes a
French key. $250–$500.
