259. $100
E.N. Welch Manufacturing Co. “Metal Lever”, 1880-1885. This is a rare model; I can find no sales on LiveAuctioneers or on the Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide. Welch
made this in three sizes (4, 6, and 8-inch) and a variety of styles (time, alarm, strike, ship bells, and calendar); this is the 8-inch
time-and-strike style. You can find this model on page 232 of Ly, Welch Clocks, Second Edition. The brass case is 11 inches
in diameter and badly in need of polishing. The glass is modern, the painted dial original with slight flaking and fading. Note the presence of a seconds bit. The 8-day (I believe) time-and-strike movement is signed and running, striking on a small
bell on the hours. There is a wire on the upper left that allows you to advance the strike; the strike is unreliable, and the
clock stops at random. Oil might be needed. There is a good label behind plastic on the back. $100–$500.
