Wm L Gilbert & Co. sharp gothic, 1851-1856.  A 20-inch steeple with rosewood veneer on the front and a clean finish.  Both glasses are likely original, with a good tablet. The dial is an aluminum replacement and the hands are inappropriate.  The movement is Seth Thomas, and the back of the case had to be cut out to accommodate it; it is time-and-strike 8 days and is running and striking on a wire gong.  The label, and hence the case, was made by Gilbert & Co., a short-lived business that eventually morphed into the Gilbert Mfg Co., and later the Gilbert Clock Co. (1871).  $25–$50.
