Terry & Andrews round gothic, 1842-1850. Theodore Terry was Samuel Terry’s son; Samuel was Eli Terry’s younger brother.  Terry & Andrews were prolific clockmakers, and in 1850 Anson Phelps convinced them to relocate from Bristol to Ansonia CT (about 30 miles south) and the new company, with Phelps, became Ansonia Clock Co.  This 19-inch beehive has a clean, polished, and bright finish on the mahogany veneer, with one repaired break on the left side opposite the dial.  The break is not particularly noticeable, and I’m not sure what occurred there. The dial glass is original, the period cut glass tablet likely a replacement and appropriate.  The dial is an aluminum replacement that has been antiqued; the hands are inappropriate replacements.  The 8-day time-and-strike brass movement is easily recognizable as a T&A movement and is die-stamped with their names.  It is running and striking on the wire gong.  There is a faded and tattered label inside that does not show the makers names but is a T&A label.  $50–$150.
