234. $150
Birge & Fuller/Ingraham double steeple,
1844-1848. The case is wonderful, with a thick patina and three original glasses, including two well-preserved Fenn tablets
(the middle tablet may be an old repaint). The metal dial has been repainted, the hands are period/correct. Unfortunately,
the movement is an E. Ingrahams Co. 8-day, time-and-strike spring-driven movement. Based on the label, it should be an accelerating
lever-spring (wagon spring)-driven movement. The movement is running and striking on the wire gong, which may be original. If you can’t afford a wagon-spring double steeple (~$1000) but love the look, this clock just might be the ticket! $150–$500.
