Spencer, Wooster & Co. “Eight Day Repeating Brass Clock”, 1840-1843.  A 33-inch mahogany-veneer case with an old finish and plenty of patina, just starting to get a bit rough.  There are a few veneer chips.  Dial glass is likely original, the center glass has a reproduction eglomise painting backed by fiberboard, on new glass, and the bottom mirror is original.  The wooden dial was repainted and regilded by Kathi Edwards, the hands are likely original.  The brass 8-day movement is unsigned, bright and shiny, in the Salem Bridge style, running and striking on a wire gong.  There is a large 8-day weight on the time side and a smaller square weight on the strike side.  The label is darkly toned but is all there.  This case would clean up nicely with a little effort.  $150–$300.
