206.              $500

Hills, Goodrich & Co. gilt column OG, 1841-1845.  A second example of this desirable clock.  The 31-inch OG case with flame mahogany veneer is in excellent condition and with a clean finish.  The dial glass is original, the lower glass a replacement with a Moberg tablet.  The painted dial is clean, the hands original, the gilded acanthus leaves at the top with some wear and cracks, the gilded columns in excellent condition. The angled side mirrors are original with losses to the silvering, the interior is the original blue.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is unsigned and had an alarm attached at one time, although I cannot determine how.  There is no internal or remote alarm mechanism, and just a pin on the right of the movement with a retainer clip.  There is an additional cut-out in the dial board on the right for something to go through, perhaps a hammer for the wire gong.  The label is tattered and toned, but sufficient. The 8-lb weights are replacements and there is an old pendulum bob.  It is running and striking without problem.  AAC sold this clock last summer for $613.  $500–$600.
