195.             $50

Ansonia Brass Co. miniature steeple with alarm, 1854-1869. This short-lived company was the same as the Ansonia Brass & Battery Co.  This was the first Ansonia clock company, reorganizing to the Ansonia Brass & Copper Co. in 1869 (in 1877 the clock business split off to form the Ansonia Clock Co. that lasted until 1930).  The mahogany-veneer case is just 14.5-inches tall with an old finish and a few veneer chips.  The finials have lost their spires.  Both glasses are likely original with the original tablet showing two peacocks on a patriotic stencil background. There is some lifting.  The painted dial is original as are the hands.  The small 30-hour time-alarm movement is unsigned; the upper arbor winds the time, the lower arbor the alarm – an unusual arrangement.  The clock will not run and the minute hand is frozen; I believe it will need to be disassembled and cleaned.  There is a good label inside.  I do not recall having seen a clock with this label before.  $50–$100.
